I'm so excited to FINALLY reveal the design for my "OUi ♥ JAPAN" scarf! It features hand-drawn & watercolored Japanese flowers & black stripes on a light green watercolor background.
Samples of the 27 x 60" cotton voile scarf (super light & gauzy!) will be here by the end of the week, and then I'll add it to the shop. 100% of the proceeds from the scarf (and a new candle, coming soon) will benefit the Red Cross in Japan. Stay tuned... xx

You can also add OUi as a facebook friend here. xx

sunday started with a couple of estate sales, made a couple of wooden-bead necklaces, and then cooked a yummy lentil dinner (with crispy-fried onions on top!).
my estate sale booty included a couple of great silver & turquoise pieces, a rhinestone jesus pin, a ceramic bowl, a very pretty costume-jeweled necklace, and a tiny "it's up to you" beer mug. man, i love all the weird little collections of things at estate sales...

a few shots from our recent trip to nyc...

sunday "dinner" with aunt mary in ct.

a trip to bird, w'burg.

i think i've found the best affordable florist in the city. he's on 9th ave (between 51st & 52nd) & does wonders with ranunculus.

ate lots of good food: pho (at cha pa's) & brunch (at five leaves)...

and dessert (at momofuku milk bar).

junky jewelry in hell's kitchen & a stroll thru the old 'hood (williamsburg).

shadows & reflections at marc jacobs

funky mosaics: east village optometrist & dolly parton bathroom (at vinyl).

pink brooklyn sunsets...

fluorescent hay bails at rodarte. waiting to interview the mulleavy sisters (who are chatting with miss tavi).
we are currently looking for a new home (& have been looking for 3 months now)... so, when the day fades, i tend to dig thru my stuffed-to-the-brim "home ideas" folder. here is the fruit of tonight's digging... a little living room to-be mock-up action. :)

i've spent most of my evening reading about artist/stylist/designer/felter, ashley helvey, on the interwebs. i've been following her blog for a while now but just discovered the amazing hand-felted pieces she makes from organic & predator-friendly raw california wool. lucky for you west-coasters, she teaches the occasional workshop at various places in l.a./portland/seattle, and of course, i'm now inspired to add felt-making to my list of art-craft to-do's. you can read an interesting interview on ashes & milk in which she describes her fascinating process.

absolutely beautiful & inspiring work!
