Mmm...

I am having dinner at Ici tomorrow evening with my Mom (who's plane should land in about 25 minutes!) and my fiancé. We might have a post-city hall wedding dinner with our close friends & some family in June at Ici, so we're sort of "trying it out". Ici supports local farmers & features a seasonal menu with food that is "naturally grown and harvested in ways that are ecologically sound and socially responsible". The space is beautiful, too; it's housed in an old brownstone in Fort Green, Brooklyn (one of the prettiest neighborhoods in the borough). Review to follow...

New Photo Obsession

I read about Viviane Sassen first on gallerist James Danziger's blog. I love the way she plays with plants & their shadows. So strikingly graphic. She's worked as a fashion photographer for many years. Now, her portraits from Africa are up at Danziger Projects thru April 10th. I can't wait to go see (and examine) them.

The Motherload

I'll be participating in a dream team designer sale next Sunday, sharing a room with the likes of Mociun, Aesa, Bodkin, Samantha Pleet, and more. My Meem soy candles will be on sale (ahem, launching!). So, smash that piggie bank, & come check it out! There will be lots of amazing clothes & jewelry, much at a discount.

In Mociun, pt. 3

Here a few more peeks at the Mociun Fall 2010 Collection that I shot last week. The prints & fabrics are really beautiful, and every piece in the collection can be worn multiple ways (inside out, backwards, tied up, loose, etc.).

Sparkle on...

One of Grant's true heroes died last Saturday. Mark Linkous (a.k.a. Sparklehorse) seemed like such a sensitive & attuned man, not to mention incredibly talented... Reminds me much of my Grant in so many ways.

Mom!

I miss my momma! It's hard to be away from your mother for so long. Especially when you start thinking about having a family. But, she's coming to visit in less than 2 weeks! Yay!
Isn't this a beautiful picture of her on Waikiki in the sixties? She packed up from Oklahoma with her best friend and moved out to Honolulu after college. Our Jude still lives there, and coincidentally, her son now lives in NYC, too... (and works at the Opening Ceremony showroom.)See ya soon, Mer!

Native Kee

I met Kee from the sweet organic cotton line, Loup Charmant, last night. We had a nice chat over tea at Blackbird Parlor in Williamsburg. I was happy to talk shop with her a bit. I found out she grows her own cotton in India & has it milled here in the U.S. Really interesting stuff in the creative pipeline for her. It's always inspiring & empowering to meet like-minded creative women that are having success with their own businesses.
What's even better is we share some Native American & Oklahoman family history. Gotta love a girl with Okie roots!

Check out Kee's blog, Native Kee.

In Mociun, pt.2

The Mociun Spring 2010 collection I shot is now online. You can check it out here.

Reflextions on a foot

Reflexology maps = crazy cool shoe/sandal inspiration. Or, at least, a funky foot tattoo.
