New OUI stockist: Pour Porter!

Noel and I collaborated on an exclusive-to-Pour Porter teacup-sized ceramic candle. I spent a lot of time finding the right scent that would match the jade & pink speckled glaze we chose and meet her request for a light, herbal blend. I found it in a mix of basil and anise (and even a bit of sage!) It's a lovely scent, with just a bit of depth and warmth from the anise.

There are also two different ceramic garlands available on the site: one in a pastel palette & another in a brights & darks palette. The beads come in three shapes - sphere, cube, & pyramid - and feature a mix of solid and speckled glazes.

this week i sent some of my ceramic & jar candles to LA's myrtle. it looks like a really sweet shop with a nice edited selection of well crafted goods from independent designers like dusen dusen, ermie, mcmc, shabd, upstate, and many others... i'm happy that oui candles will be included in the mix. xx

earlier this year, i was asked to contribute a "soy candle in a jar" how-to for the new book, state of craft, which will be released this month! the book features fun how-to's and interviews from the likes of hello sandwich, tatty devine, and erin dollar. i'm looking forward to getting my copy in the mail!

workin' on a OUI shop update... gotta churn out some stock and working on a new product!!! this is one of the new 9 oz. soy candles hanging out among my pinch pot collection... it's available in three scents: honeysuckle jasmine, patchouli rose, and cedarwood rosemary vanilla. 60+ hours burn time. safe & sustainable, with absolutely no toxic fragrances, phthalates, additives, or petro-chemicals. xx

* did you know most candles are made with petro-chemicals? paraffin wax and additives blended into natural waxes (soy, beeswax) are made with chemically-engineered petroleum-based products. additives are used for everything from making a stronger scent throw to reducing burn speed and are used in most candles, even "soy candles"... and then you burn it. think about that next time you go to light your favorite candle in your home. don't even get me started on the toxic chemicals in most fragrances. in the name of health and sustainability... xx

just finished up two NEW summer soy candles: jasmine honeysuckle & rose patchouli! i'll add them to the OUi online shop soon. also, new travel tin trio sets comprised of each scent i've made so far. all of the candles are made of eco soy wax, natural wicks, and a blend of essential oils & safe fragrance oils (no phthalates!). xx

bonjour! i am so happy to introduce you to OUi: my new line of handcrafted products for the artful home. OUi is a modern expression of traditional craft, with simplicity, sustainability, health, and quality infused into the substance of each item.
OUi features a simple concept: a new candle & original textile design each month. this month, the candle is a cedarwood rosemary vanilla soy candle & it comes with a small, heart-shaped fabric ornament. february's "new-yorkaise" pattern is available as an 18 x 18" cotton pillow cover. there are also two options for candle subscriptions (6-month & 12-month), which i happen to think make fantastic gifts! each month's candle will be a new scent, come in various forms (pillars, jars, tapers, tins), and blended with natural waxes, non-toxic fragrances, & essential oils.
